Being a Teacher


At the end of Section Two, we posed a challenge, asking you how you could become ‘part of the solution’ in our current teaching context, and what you could do to empower learners to face their own challenges in the future. When we last met Peter Adonis, he was beginning to realize that teachers would not be in a position to help learners ‘become something in the world’ if they saw themselves as victims, helpless in the face of difficulties. Does at least part of the answer lie in the notion of ‘professionalism’?
